The GEEKERIE. Prints of the Planets

Photo?size=medium third

The Geekerie

Prints of the Planets
Artist Christian Petersen established The Geekerie in 2011 as an attempt to develop a more diverse and personal portfolio. The featured series, The Pixelated Universe was conceived as a modern approach to retro pixel-art illustrations. Fascinated by current artists delving back into a design style which — at the time — was adopted out of necessity, Christian wanted to offer viewers a glimpse of our closest planetary neighbors through the lens of this dot-pattern design process.

Jeb Knight. Kaleidoscopic Creations

Jeb Knight. Kaleidoscopic Creations
Jeb Knight. Kaleidoscopic Creations

On one of those "you're-out-so-late-it’s-early" nights in NYC, artist Jeb Knight came home, exhausted from dancing, music still ringing in his ears. Upon trying to sleep, Knight saw bright flashes of kaleidoscoping images every time he closed his eyes. Lasers and go-go boys and club kids all blurred together to the beat of some far off DJ’s beats. It occurred to him that nightlife is like a safari, going into unknown wilderness in search of some exotic wild animal or to infiltrate a society with bizarre rituals. These images are made in the spirit of that exploration and adventure. Can you hear the drums?"

Rauhofer. Print by Jeb Knight

Nightlife is a kind of performance that creates a work of art grounded in music, emblazoned with lights, absorbed by skin and reflected by fashion. It's an art form that is as reflexive as it is ephemeral. You are the actor and the audience - if you don't show up to the party, the performance never took place. Rauhofer is a dizzying limited edition giclée print from artist Jeb Knight that elevates a party atmosphere into a realm that's truly modern.

About the Artist: Jeb Knight

Jeb Knight is an artist, designer, start-up enthusiast, and social media maven living in New York City. From his background as a fine artist Jeb quickly became a graphic designer to pay the bills and support his banh-mi sandwich addiction. Between exhibits on the Upper East Side, he has designed and art directed in various arenas from theater and live performance to tech and non-profit. Originally obsessed with mixed media collage, Jeb has recently traded in his gouache and solvent transfers for an iPhone and photoshop, preferring digital media for his newest body of work.
